Soul Kitchen: An Urban Legend
Soul Kitchen is a designer guesthouse located in the heart of St. Petersburg, combining the elegance and warmth of a cozy space with the richness of historical heritage. Situated near St. Isaac's Cathedral, it offers guests the opportunity to experience the unique atmosphere of a place where modern style harmoniously blends with the charm of the past. Whether for a short-term or long-term stay, visitors can enjoy a perfect balance of aesthetics and comfort, surrounded by the architectural beauty of the city.
When we first entered this space, we were immediately impressed by its size and atmosphere. It was an old apartment with high ceilings, beautiful stucco work, and many unique details that preserved the spirit of the past.
Working on the interior concept became an exciting process for us. Together with our clients, we decided that the design should preserve the history of this place while also being cozy and modern.
We created a space that combines comfort, modernity, and respect for the traditions and spirit of grand St. Petersburg. Minimalist historical details are seamlessly integrated into the overall interior, allowing guests to feel like part of a welcoming St. Petersburg home on the Moika River embankment.
A Kitchen with Soul
The Soul Kitchen deserves special attention. The kitchen in this old apartment has been preserved almost in its original state: the walls were adorned with traditional Mettlach tiles, and a vintage wood-burning stove stood at the center. It’s a rare case where an entire room has survived in such remarkable condition. However, the original size of the kitchen was too small to meet the needs of a large hostel. We carefully dismantled all the tiles to expand the space and make it suitable for accommodating larger groups.
